The Allies designed an operation to land in South of France at the same as the invasion in Normandy. That didn’t went according to plan and “Operation Dragoon” took place on the 14th of August. American and Canadian troops landed close to Saint-Tropez and quickly overrun the German resistance. On the 27th of August they reached St. Paul de Vence and liberate the town.
Since then every year on the 27th of August there are celebrations and exhibitions of vehicles from WW2.
