Lochnagar Crater
On 1 July 1916 at 7:28 a.m explosives under German lines were set off by the British leaving a 30 meter deep and 100 meter wide hole on the ground. The charge was only a part of another 19 mines that were dug under the German lines and assist the infantry advance at the start of the battle.
