Christmas Truce 1914

On 25th of December 1914 British and German soldiers came out of their trenches and met in the middle of the battlefield. They began to talk, sing, exchange gifts and most probably played a friendly match. They continued shooting each other the next day!

On 11th of December 2014, UEFA unveiled the Christmas Truce monument and you can see footballs left by visitors. There are a few destroyed bunkers and trenches that you can walk around leaving you with a feeling that something magnificent happened there in really dark times.
