Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial
On 1st of July 1916 during the first day of the battle of Somme Newfoundland regiment attacked and in less than 30 minutes the whole regiment was eliminated.
The memorial site is the largest memorial of the Western Front, and the largest area of the Somme battlefield that has been preserved. Here you can also see the Danger tree that was used as a landmark for German artillery to concentrate their fire.
