The Heraion of Perachora is a sanctuary of the goddess Hera. The area was inhabited since 9th century BCE. It was under the control of Ancient Corinth and it was an important town and significant sanctuary.
At 146 BCE there was a major battle between the Romans and Ancient Greeks. The Romans won, they slaughtered every man, took every woman and child as slaves and burnt to the ground every single town, settlement and sanctuaries in the surrounding area including the Heraion.
